Hypnosis for You

Every problem we ever face in our lives is affected by how we think about it - and most of the time we can't fully control how we think about things. We may wish to change things in our lives, by stopping smoking or losing weight, for example, but find ourselves struggling to overcome old habits, to make new decisions stick. As soon as you stop concentrating on doing something new that you want, the old behaviour can creep back in - why is this?

One reason is that our thoughts and feelings about people, situations, and the things we do, are strongly affected by our unconscious minds, which act as auto-pilots - but it can be difficult to change the instructions that the auto-pilot acts on. You decide to lose weight, but when you're bored or feeling unhappy the auto-pilot 'knows' that eating something will cheer you up for a moment - and off it goes. The same applies to smoking, or nail biting... The moment you stop watching it, the unconscious runs the old behaviour in the same way that a computer will run a program - and you cannot watch it all day, every day.

The better option seems obvious - change the program that it's running, so it's working for you instead of against you. Again though this can be difficult, because the unconscious cannot be directly spoken to - you cannot reason with it or directly tell it what you want.

What you can do is show it what you want... and this is where hypnosis becomes invaluable to you in making the changes you want in your life. In even the lightest of hypnotic states, it is possible to use your imagination to sketch a blueprint of how your life will be better when you leave old behaviours behind and adopt new ones, seeing how much happier you can be, how much healthier and fulfilled you will be - and the unconscious can respond to that wish almost at once, supporting you instead of holding you back.
